Alabama Vipers News Release

Huntsville, AL- The defending ArenaCup Champion Tennessee Valley Vipers have made two more additions for the upcoming 2009 season. The Vipers have been re-assigned WR/DB Desmond Foster, and have been assigned WR/DB Chris Bocage.

Foster, who played four seasons at Alabama State University, finished the 2008 season as the Vipers second leading tackler with 66.5 tackles. He also compiled three interceptions and seven passes defended. Foster also was a major factor for the Vipers during the playoffs, intercepting five passes, and collecting 27.5 tackles. "Desmond was a key contributor during our Championship season. As a rookie he developed as the season progressed. As a returning veteran he gives us the stability and foundation to build around with younger players," said Vipers head coach Dean Cokinos.

Bocage, a product of the University of Southern California, will be a new addition to the Vipers for the 2009 season. "I am extremely excited about the signing of Chris. He is a very explosive wide receiver and kick returner, and I was extremely impressed with him when we played against him last year in Albany. In our offense I expect him to excel as the middle receiver," said Cokinos. Bocage, 5-11 195 pounds, saw af2 action last season with the Albany Conquest and caught 68 passes for 827 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Prior to his af2 experience with the Conquest, Bocage spent three seasons with the USC Trojans and was part of the 2003 and 2004 National Championship teams. "I'm just excited to get to Huntsville and be part of a Championship organization, said Bocage." I was very impressed with the Vipers and the no quit attitude they showed when we played them this past year. Coach Cokinos is a proven winner, and I'm excited about the opportunity."

The Vipers are currently accepting season ticket orders for the upcoming 2009 af2 season. Season tickets can be purchased through the Vipers ticket office at 256-428-4477. Don't miss the hiss!
