Amarillo Venom News Release

Amarillo, TX (11/21/08) - With new head coach Ben Bennett in town, the Amarillo Dusters are preparing to hold their first slew of annual tryouts this weekend.

This year, however, there's one twist to the combine-style workout.

The Dusters confirmed Thursday that one player from the local tryouts is guaranteed a spot on the Amarillo training camp roster next spring.

Bennett says everyone will be given a fair opportunity to make the squad.

"If you're 'Craig the Plumber', and you've gotten yourself in shape, and you make the tryout, you'll get every chance to make the team against the guy from Auburn," Bennett said of the open tryouts at a press conference earlier this week.

Those wishing to try out for the 2009 Amarillo Dusters should arrive at John Stiff Park (48th and Bell Streets in Amarillo) by 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 22nd. Participants should bring their own cleats and $60 (cash or cashiers check). From there, all in attendance will be asked to fill out information sheets and take part in a number of drills.

For more information on the Dusters open tryouts, please contact the team's front office at (806) 350-PASS (7277).

THE AMARILLO DUSTERS are a member of the 25-team arenafootball2 league, and part of the Arena Football family. The team front office is now located at 901 S. Buchanan in downtown Amarillo. Season ticket packages for 2009 are available by calling (806) 350-PASS (7277), and start at just $96 a seat.
