Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release
ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today that the team will make up the two postponed games originally scheduled for November 4th and 5th on Tuesday, December 20th and Wednesday, January 25th.
Roanoke Civic Center maintenance staff arrived at the arena early on the morning of November 4th to find a large pool of water covering the center of the ice on which the Vipers were to face the RiverDogs that night. After quick deliberation, Vipers management along with Civic Center staff ascertained that the ice would be unfit for the players to skate on because of potential safety hazards it posed. The ice was not able to be prepared up to the proper standards in enough time for either of the Vipers games scheduled against the RiverDogs that weekend to be played.
"Obviously we lost a couple of good weekend nights," said team owner and governor Kristen Dixon, "but it is more important that there was no opportunity for anyone to get hurt because the ice conditions were poor. We know we'll draw big crowds to both of the rescheduled games because our fans want to come out and see us beat the RiverDogs."
Fans holding single tickets to either the November 4th or 5th games may redeem those tickets through the Roanoke Civic Center box office or the Vipers front office for tickets to any other Vipers home game during the 2005-06 season. Season ticket holders are asked to hold onto their tickets from the November 4th and 5th games to be used for admission into the games on December 20th and January 25th, respectively. Any questions regarding the redemption of tickets may be directed to Amy Webb at the Vipers front office by calling (540) 345-PUCK (7825).
Come out and cheer on your Vipers as they host the Danbury Trashers on Wednesday, December 7th at 7:05p.m. at the Roanoke Civic Center! Call (540) 345-PUCK (7825) to get your tickets today!
