Evansville BlueCats News Release

EVANSVILLE, IN: Despite jumping out to a commanding lead, the Evansville BlueCats failed to hang on for the win last Saturday night against the Lexington Horsemen. The BlueCats held the lead for the first 59:11 of the game before falling behind 42-41 with 0:49 seconds remaining. The BlueCats had a chance to reclaim the lead on the final drive but a Brent Dearmon pass intended for Levron Williams was intercepted by Lexington's William Mulder to seal the outcome. The loss drops Evansville to (3-8) on the year.

The BlueCats took control of the game early, recovering the opening kickoff and scoring on a 29-yard touchdown pass to Levron Williams on the next play. Running back Michael Cosey would score 2 touchdowns and Deion Holts would record two safeties before the next touchdown pass to Levron Williams would put the BlueCats out in front 31-13 before halftime. However, the BlueCats offense would stall in the second half and the Horsemen managed to creep back into the game behind 4 second half touchdowns, the last one from Rayshawn Askew to put Lexington on top by one. On the final drive, Brent Dearmon rushed for 3 yards before tossing the interception on second down with just 11 seconds remaining.

Running back Michael Cosey scored 3 touchdowns (1 rushing, 2 receiving) for the BlueCats offense. Cosey finished the game with 28 yards rushing and 38 yards receiving. Quarterback Brent Dearmon went 9 for 21 with 4 touchdown passes and one interception. Levron Williams was the leading receiver for the BlueCats with 70 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 3 receptions.

Deion Holts had a big night for the BlueCats defense with 2 sacks, 2 safeties, and a blocked kick on the night. He finished the game with 5.5 tackles. AJ Bryant tallied 7 tackles and John Winchester recorded 6 tackles.

Kickoff is set for 7:05pm. This game can be heard live on News-Talk 1280 WGBF-AM and on the web at 103GBFrocks.com.
