
Victorino named Topps Player of the Month

MURRIETA, Ga. -- Suns center fielder Shane Victorino was named the Southern League Topps Player of the Month for August.
The Topps Company of New York, in conjunction with Minor League Baseball, presents the award each month to the top performer in each of the 10 full-season leagues.
For the month, Victorino was first in the Southern League in batting average (.407), first in runs scored (29), first in slugging percentage (.707) and second in hits (40). Victorino, a sixth round draft pick of the Dodgers in 1999, resides in Wailuku, Hawaii.
After joining the Suns on June 11, he led the Southern League in that span in home runs (16) and runs scored (70).
