
Victoriaville routs Montreal 5 to 1

Montreal, January 17th, 2010 - After completing their strong road trip, the Juniors returned home this afternoon to face the Victoriaville Tigers. The Tigers took the lead and dominated much of the game. They would easily cruise to a 5 to 1 victory.
The Tigers jumped on the board when Guillaume Goulet scored right in front to give Victoriaville the early lead in the first at 1:14. Victoriaville would take a two-goal lead when Frederic Tanguay scored in traffic at 12:16.
Victoriaville would continue the attack in the second period when Maple Leafs prospect Joel Champagne tipped in the initial shot on the power play. Tigers forward Joel Chouinard got on the score sheet when he sniped one past Jean-Francois Berube at 6:37 of the second. Tigers winger Brandon Hynes extended Victoriaville's lead when he went top-shelf at 17:32 of the second.
In the third period, Juniors forward Eliezer Sherbatov buried the puck past Kevin Poulin after the puck took an awkward bounce from the glass on the power play at 14:52. That was the final score as the Tigers were victorious by the score of 5 to 1.
Montreal goaltender Jean-Francois Berube stopped 21/25 shots in the loss and his replacement, Etienne Marcoux, made 15/16 saves. Tigers goalie Kevin Poulin rejected 28/29 shots in the win. The Juniors record is at 22-20-0-3 and the Tigers record is 33-13-1-1.
Up next for the Juniors will be the Val-d'Or Foreurs at home on Friday, at 7:35PM. Top-ranked Saint John Sea Dogs will be in town on Saturday, at 4:05PM before the Juniors go on the road to face Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and Chicoutimi Sagueneens.
