July 6, 2010 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Victoria Seals News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Seals are proud to announce that two Victoria players have been selected to represent the Golden Baseball League at the 2010 International Minor League All-Star Game, taking place July 14 in Tucson, Arizona. Catcher Josh Arhart and third basemen Brian Rios will join the top talent in the league for the All-Star festivities at Hi Corbett Field as the Golden Baseball League squares off against the best from the Northern League.

Josh Arhart, a second-year Seal, has been elected to represent Victoria behind home plate as a catcher for the Golden Baseball League team. The Tualatin, Oregon native currently sits second on the team with .357 batting average while posting a club-leading 9 home runs and 31 runs batted in. Arhart, who makes up part of the Seals management staff with Bench Coach duties, will appear in the All-Star Game for a second consecutive year after representing Victoria at the 2008 contest in St. George, Utah.

Serving as Championship Series MVP with the Orange County Flyers in 2008, Arhart is currently riding a 12-game hit streak which has seen the minor league veteran post 21 hits, 5 home runs, 18 RBI's and a remarkable .512 batting average.

Brian Rios, a Santa Ana, California product, will represent Victoria at third base for the Golden Baseball League team. Sitting atop the Seals batting statistics with a .372 batting average, the former Detroit Tigers prospect earns his first All-Star nod in his third year at the GBL level.

Posting a .383 batting average in the month of June, despite a 10-game losing skid from the Seals, Rios has been a key defensive figure on third base while providing 18 runs batted in and another 21 scored this season. The Oral Roberts University graduate and Seals player/coach has also contributed to the team's league-leading 82 stolen bases this year, swiping a total of 6 bases - his highest mark since 1999.
