
GBL Announces 2010 All-Star Team; Five Outlaws Make The Grade

(Chico, CA. July 6th, 2010) The Chico Outlaws today are pleased to announce five Outlaws made the 2010 GBL All-Star team. The five selected are the most of any team in the league; Tucson had four players selected.
Catcher Mike Rose, outfielder JJ Sherrill and pitchers Kris Honel, Josh Dew and Justin Segal have been chosen to represent the GBL in the All-Star game against the Northern League All-Stars.
The game is set for July 14th in Tucson at Hi Corbett Field at 7:00 pm.
Rose is hitting .379/9/23 in 26 games at backstop for the Outlaws. The 32-year old Sacramento, CA native is among the league leaders in homeruns and spent three years in the majors with Oakland, the Los Angeles Dodgers and St Louis Cardinals.
Sherrill, who has led the league in homeruns for a majority of the first half, makes the team sporting a .323 average with 10 homers. The former Cleveland Indians farmhand has also been in the top five of the league in the RBI department all year, currently fourth with 39.Despite being in an outfield with the GBL's leading hitter Blake Gailen (.430), Sherrill
Starting pitcher Kris Honel is the only pitcher in the league with six wins, not to mention an ERA under 2.00 (1.96). A former number one draft pick in 2001 by the Chicago White Sox, Kris became only the second pitcher in GBL history to toss a no-hitter, achieving the feat on May 23rd against the Tijuana Cimarrones.
Relievers Josh Dew and Justin Segal make the team out of the impressive Chico bullpen. Dew, a former St Louis Cardinals prospect, is 2-0 and sports a 0.46 ERA in 15 games, with 27 strikeouts in 21.1 innings pitched. Segal, a former UC-Santa Barbara product and New York Yankees farmhand, is also 2-0, 0.90 ERA and has allowed just two earned runs all year.

The Outlaws are currently on a six game road trip in Tucson and Yuma to close out the first half. Tonight's game features a great pitching matchup between newly-minted All-Star Kris Honel against former 11-year big leaguer Albie Lopez of the Toros.
