Victoria Seals Answer Back In Kamloops

Returning to NorBrock Stadium for the second game of an exhibition series in Kamloops, the Victoria Seals took on the Calgary Vipers on Thursday night. Joe Sergent started on the mound for the Vipers, while Victoria countered with returning right-hander Aaron Trolia. The Seals were first on the board in the top of the fourth inning as Matt Kavanaugh drove in the first run of the night with a double to right field. Extending their lead in the fifth frame, Victoria's Devon Franklin and Wilver Perez scored on back-to-back wild pitches to make it 3-0 Seals.

Calgary responded in the bottom of the frame, using a lead-off triple from Luis Taveras and bases loaded walks to Jonny Kaplan and Julio Ramirez to even the score at 3-3. The Vipers then grabbed the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Matt Edgecombe cashed his second run of the game with a single before Colin Ziegel was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make the score 5-3.

Victoria answered back to take the lead in the eighth as Shane Cronin started the rally with his second home run in as many nights down the third base line. Following a double from Lyndon Estill, Charlie Strandlund doubled in the tying run, and Scott Wallis scored on a wild pitch for the 6-5 lead.

Turning to Ryan Paterson to close out the game in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Seals closed out the Vipers by a 6-5 final score to take the second half of the Interior series.
