Atlanta Vibe News Release

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Atlanta Vibe (9-4) fell to the Columbus Fury (5-5) in a close four-set match on Sunday afternoon in the first meeting between the two teams.

Atlanta stays at the top of the league despite the loss, and turns around to face the Fury again on Wednesday (March 27) on their own home court at Gas South Arena. Tickets for that match and all remaining Vibe matches are available at AtlantaVibe.com.

Columbus pulled out a win in the first set to lead the match early, but Atlanta turned around to pull out a gritty 29-27 win in the second to tie it up at the break. Long rallies kept the third and fourth sets close, but the Fury inched out a couple more wins to take the match.

Two Vibe players finished hitting at a clip above .300 - Shelly Fanning finished with 10 kills on 17 attacks (.353), while Magdalena Jehláøová tallied 5 kills on 9 attacks (.333). Fanning also led the Vibe with 4 blocks and 2 aces, her third match of the season with multiple aces.

Notes

Atlanta has now faced all six other Pro Volleyball Federation teams and has only dropped four of their 13 matches so far this season.

Setter Marlie Monserez finished with 15 digs and 50 sets for her 7th double-double of the season.

The Fury are the first team in the PVF to beat Atlanta in a set decided by two points, defeating the Vibe 25-23 in the fourth set of Sunday's match. The Vibe are now 13-1 in two-point sets.
