
Veteran Wave Player Announced as Louisville Lightening Head Coach

MILWAUKEE (June 13, 2011) - Milwaukee Wave veteran, Kyt Selaidopoulos, will be named head coach of the Louisville Lightening, a PASL team, effectively immediately.
"I would like to thank the staff, the Coaches, my teammates, the medical staff, the media and the fans for their support. I am leaving Milwaukee and the Wave with no regrets and as a Champion. I am looking forward to this opportunity in Louisville and everything that I have accomplished in Milwaukee will only make me a better player and Coach," Selaidopoulos said.
Selaidopoulos, 33, played with the Milwaukee Wave several times throughout his professional soccer career. A native of Montreal, Quebec, he started is professional soccer career at age 20 in 1999 with the Montreal Impact before a professional outdoor soccer career where he was part of the 2004 championship team in Montreal. He returned to the indoor game with the Cleveland Force just before the 2004-05 season. He joined the Wave for the first time during the 2005-2006 season. Selaidopoulos was picked by Detroit in the expansion draft. He was captain in Detroit during their 2008-2009 championship season. Selaidopoulos returned to the Wave in 2009 was a member of the 2010-2011 championship team. He also was a member of the Canadian national futsal team and captain of the beach soccer team that qualified in 2006 for the World Cup in Brazil.
Besides playing for the Wave, Selaidopoulos coached Waukesha West High School Boys Soccer and youth soccer teams through SC Waukesha. He also ran a successful youth summer camp in Montreal.

When the owners of Louisville asked me for recommendations for the job Kyt was at the top of my list. His experience in the MISL and his other qualities will make him a very successful coach. We wish him nothing but the best," state Milwaukee Wave Head Coach Keith Tozer.
The Milwaukee Wave professional indoor soccer team is the longest-running professional soccer team in the country. The Wave completed their 27th season by winning their 5th Major Indoor Soccer League championship. Their summer camp program is the largest team-operated program in the country.
