Kansas City Comets News Release
(Kansas City, MO) The Comets Professional Indoor Soccer Team and Citizens Bank and Trust announced today an exciting new way for fans of the Comets to stay connected to the team while helping out a very worthwhile cause. Citizens Bank and Trust, headquartered here in Kansas City, has created a Comets Checking and Debit Card for fans to use at merchants and ATM's worldwide.
The Visa debit card will also allow Comets fans to support one of the area's most important charities: the Make-A-Wish FoundationR in Kansas City. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work since 1980. The Missouri Chapter of Make-A-Wish has granted over 4,100 wishes since it was founded in 1983. The Missouri chapter's territory includes every county in the state, plus Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Linn, Miami and Franklin Counties on the Kansas side.
With each purchase made on the new Comets debit card, Citizens Bank and Trust will donate five cents to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Kansas City. The Comets and Citizens Bank hope that Comets fans will sign up for the card and spend, spend, spend in order to help grant wishes to children with life-threatening conditions in the Kansas City area.
"We're excited to make this Visa debit card available to all the passionate Comets fans in Kansas City, but more importantly, we're excited about raising much-needed dollars for such an incredible charity like the Make-A-Wish Foundation," said Randy Baker, Senior Vice President of Development for Citizens Bank and Trust.
The Comets organization shares Baker's enthusiasm. "The Comets are thrilled to be able to offer this unique card to our fans from such a wonderful friend and partner like Citizens Bank," said team president, Brian Budzinski. "And to have every purchase made by our fans with these cards directly helping kids right here in Kansas City through the Make-A-Wish Foundation makes it even more special."
For the charity, the timing of the Comets debit card program couldn't be better. "We are excited to partner with The Comets and Citizen's Bank to raise money and awareness about the Make-A-Wish FoundationR," said Sherri Zerkel, Senior Executive Director of the Kansas City Region for the Make-A-Wish FoundationR. "With the costs of wishes increasing annually, programs like this enable us to grant more wishes of area children suffering life-threatening medical conditions, to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy."
Comets fans can sign up for the debit card by visiting their nearest Citizens Bank and Trust location or online at https://www.ebankcbt.com/Cometsdebitcard.asp.
