Vermont Mountaineers News Release

MONTPELIER, Vt. - The Mountaineers were back in action tonight and had more firepower to bring to the table as they grabbed a big 8-2 win at Recreation Field. Vermont improves to 2-0 on the young season with the win.

Once again the Mountaineers wasted very little time getting on the board scoring three runs in the first inning. Ben Williamson (William & Mary, Midlothian, Virginia) had a fantastic night driving in three runs in four at-bats and bringing his average to .556.

It was a slow game for the Martha's Vineyard Sharks overall as the first run came in the third. The first run was scored by Aiden Tierney (Mt St Mary's, Partlow, Virginia) who later would be ejected from the game after some dispute over a call in the 8th. The only other run came off a solo shot in the top of the 9th inning, hit by Tierney's replacement, Harrison Brown (Austin Peay St, Cambridge, Massachusetts).

After the one run in the third by Martha's Vineyard, the Mountaineers poured on five more runs to push their lead to seven. Joseph Kosowsky (Fairleigh Dickinson, Troy, New York) gets the win tonight for the Mountaineers and had good help from Brendan McFall (Tufts, Oceanside, New York), Christopher Kahler (George Washington, Coral Springs, Florida), and Mitchell Pascarella (Connecticut, Lakewood, New York).

The Mountaineers improve to 2-0 and will play again on Friday for their first road game of the year. Remember to tune in on the NECBL network to hear all the action of every game!
