Vermont Lake Monsters News Release
STATEN ISLAND, NY --- The Vermont Expos got an early start on their trek across the state of New York as Thursday night's New York-Penn League baseball game at Staten Island was postponed due to the major power outage in the New York area.
The final game of the three-game series at Staten Island will not be made up, reducing the Expos 2003 schedule to 75 games.
The Expos will now head out to Western New York to begin a three-game series at Batavia on Friday night. The postponement at Staten Island means that Vermont will be able to head out to Batavia about four hours ahead of when they would have left if they had played the scheduled 7:15 p.m. game with the Yankees.
Vermont (13-43) will play Batavia Friday at 7:05 pm, Saturday at 1:05 pm and Sunday evening at 6:05 pm before heading to Oneonta for games on Monday and Tuesday. After an off day on Wednesday, the Expos will begin a three-game series at Centennial Field with the Aberdeen Ironbirds on Thursday.
