Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Batavia, NY - It looked as if the Muckdogs would be walking away with their second consecutive win on Wednesday night, however the Tri-City Valley Cats had a little something to say about that, taking the game in the 13th inning, 7-6.
Tri-City jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but the Muckdogs would claw their way back and eventually take the lead. Jake Blalock reached base on an error in the fourth inning, teammate Kiel Fisher doubled to put runners on second and third. Catcher Corey Von Tungeln continued his hot streak at the plate, rapping a double into left field to cut the lead in half.
The floodgates opened in fifth inning when Fisher singled to lead the inning off and then stole second. He was driven in on the next pitch by Tim Moss. Javon Moran tripled, Michael Bourn singled, and Bryan Hansen tripled and would score on a wild pitch to give Batavia a 6-4 lead.
The score would remain 6-4 until the 9th. Reliever Chris Rupert walked Beau Hearod and then gave up a home run to Adam Seuss which tied the game at six runs each.
It would take three more scoreless innings before a winner would be decided, making the game pass the three hour mark and into the 13th inning.
Chris Robinson would slap a single into centerfield against Brad Overton. The ball would roll through the legs of center fielder Javon Moran, allowing Jeff Mackor to score all the way from first base.
For Batavia, Kiel Fisher starred at the plate, going three for five with two runs scored. Von Tungeln was two for six with two runs batted in.
Batavia finishes their three game set on Thursday vs. the Valley Cats, it is LeRoy Night at Dwyer Stadium, game time is set for 7:05pm.
