Vermont High School Seniors to Get In on All-Star Weekend

A special competition for Vermont High School Senior Hot Shots will take place between the ABA All Stars' Three-Point and Slam-Dunk Contests at ABA All-Star Weekend on Friday, March 21, at the Barre Municipal Auditorium.

Community National Bank will present the derby, which will feature 16 of the finest sharpshooters in the state-eight senior boys and eight senior girls, chosen with the assistance of the Vermont Basketball Coaches Association. The evening's events will get underway at 7 p.m.

The boys will be Dan Bisaccio (Mount Anthony); D.J. Campbell (Winooski); Jeff Danyew (Windsor); Rob Dorion (Rutland); Tyler Everett (Montpelier); Greg Hughes, (West Rutland); Kevin Labas (Mount Abraham); and Kyle McQuarrie (Proctor).

For the girls, Brianna Baker (Spaulding); Camille DuPont (Twinfield); Meghan Farrell (Green Mountain); Stephanie Gagnon (Williamstown); Sam Graves (U-32); Stephanie Hazlett (Arlington); Alyssa Herrington (Mount Anthony); and Kaleigh Sullivan (Rutland) have all confirmed their participation.

The top two boys and top two girls after an opening round will advance to a shoot off, with a Hot Shot trophy on the line.

Tickets for All-Star Weekend are available for in-person purchase at Allen Lumber in Barre; First In Fitness in Montpelier; and the Flynn Regional Box Office at 153 Main Street in Burlington. Fans may also call 802-86-FLYNN or go to flynntix.org. Tickets are available for each individual session or in special packages that include both days' events.

Friday night's Hot Shots and Dunks will also feature ABA All-Star Slam Dunk and Three-Point Contests presented by M&M Beverage Centers and Simply Subs and Pizza.

The ABA All-Star Classic presented by VSECU will tip off at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, and feature the All-Star Halftime Showcase presented by M&M Beverage Centers.

Team practices at the Barre Aud will be free and open to the public on Friday afternoon between 1 and 4 p.m., while DMS Machining and Fabrication will present the All-Star Community Breakfast on Saturday morning at the American Legion Post 10 on North Main Street in Barre, with seatings at 9 and 10 a.m. A limited number of tickets for the breakfast, which will benefit Spaulding High School's Project Graduation, will be on sale at the Frost Heaves' game with Atlanta at the Barre Aud on Wednesday night, March 19.

The Manchester Millrats are lending logistical support to the Frost Heaves for All-Star Weekend.

Saturday's ABA All-Star Classic will be Webcast free at vermontfrostheaves.com for viewing live and in archived rebroadcast, with VermontVacation.com the presenting sponsor. The radio call will be carried over the Vermont Frost Heaves Basketball Radio Network, which originates with WSNO AM 1450 in Barre and is audio streamed over vermontfrostheaves.com.
