Vermont Frost Heaves News Release
Halifax, NS - What a difference a day makes! After shooting more than 62% from the field in Buffalo the day before, the Frost Heaves shot only 46.4% from the field as they fell to the Halifax Rainmen 108-97.
Vermont jumped out to a quick 12-6 lead in the first quarter, but Halifax fought back with 9 straight points and never trailed the rest of the game. Halifax held a 29-25 lead after 1 quarter and by the end of the 1st half had extended the lead to 52-39. Halifax held the Frost Heaves to only 14 points in the 2nd quarter.
The 3rd quarter started much the same and the Frost Heaves could never seem to get close. Vermont kept plugging and John Williams seemed to single handedly keep the Frost Heaves in the game with his 3 point shooting and tough defense. John Williams and Anthony Kyle both sank 3 point shots during the Frost Heaves run and got them to within one point at 77-76 with 10:34 left in the game. They never got any closer.
John Williams led all Frost Heaves scorers with 26 points, followed by Anthony Kyle with 14 points and Joseph Williams with 13. Halifax was lead by Tony Bennett with 28 points and Brian Silverhorn with 26 points. The loss drops Vermont into 2nd place in the PBL Atlantic division at 7-4. Halifax's record goes to 7-5.
