Detroit, MI- Imari Sawyer hit one of two free throws with one second to go in the game as Chicago ruins the Detroit debut of Randy Gill as the Throwbacks defeat Detroit 114-113.

In the first, Detroit jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead on a three by Brian Woodland and a Chuck Bailey eight footer. Chicago would make a quick comeback on hoops by Stanley Thomas and Dameon Mason. Chicago would take its first lead of the game midway through the quarter on another Mason jumper to make it 10-9 Chicago. The game remained tight in the second with Chicago leading for the entire 12 minutes, but never by more than six with the teams trading hoops for most of the period. Six times in the quarter, when Chicago would score, Detroit would follow the next time down with a hoop of their own. After two, Chicago lead by five.

In the third, Chicago started to pull away going on a 12-1 run that lasted three minutes and change. Five different players scored during the run before Randy Gill, making his Detroit debut, hit a 24 foot three ball to make it 84-74 Chicago. The Throwbacks would extend the lead to as many as 12 and lead by ten after three.

Detroit would not go away. The Panthers went on a 7-0 run to close the lead to six with 8:14 to go in regulation. Back and forth the teams would go until the 2:37 mark of the quarter when Brian Woodland hit a deep three as Detroit took their first lead since the 10:00 mark of the third quarter 110-109. The lead would grow to three on a Stane's Bufford jumper, but Michael Herman's 15 footer and a pair of free throws by Dameon Mason gave the Throwbacks a one point advantage.
