Vermont struck first in the top of the opening frame after Sam Angelo doubled and DM Jefferson singled him home to make it 1-0. The Mountaineers would extend it to a 3-0 lead in the third off of an RBI double from Max Jensen and an RBI single from Nathan Waugh The lead would extend to 6-0 after two runs in the sixth and another RBI from Max Jensen in the eighth. The Westerners would storm back in bottom of the eighth, with five runs in the inning to cut the lead to 6-5. Vermont would add two runs in the ninth off of two walks, a passed ball and an RBI single from Nic Notarangelo. Charlie Kutz shut the door with three straight strikeouts in the ninth to end the game at 8-5.

WP: Nick Falter (1-0) | LP: Szturma (0-2) | Sv: Kutz (1) Vermont has now scored 48 runs in the past five games, averaging nearly 10 runs per game. Vermont had the lead-off man aboard in eight of the nine innings tonight. Sam Angelo has reached base in each of the last four games, including back-to-back games with an extra-base hit. Falter pitched five scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and just two hits.
