Venters Home Run Not Enough, Braves Fall 10-4

Rome, GA - The West Virginia Power defeated the Rome Braves Saturday night at State Mutual Stadium 8-2 before a crowd of 1,931.

The Power got an early 2-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI groundout by Robbie Glendinning and Rafelin Lorenzo's sacrifice fly RBI. In the third, Rome made it a 2-1 game thanks to an RBI groundout by Jefrey Ramos but West Virginia added to their lead in fourth on a wild pitch to score a run and Lorenzo's run scoring double for the 4-1 score. The top of the fifth saw the Power cross the plate four times on RBI doubles by Fabrico Macias and Rodolfo Castro a sacrifice fly RBI by Deon Stafford, and another run crossing the plate on a throwing error making it an 8-1 game. In the bottom of the sixth, Brendan Venter (4) cracked a three run home run but the Power added runs in the seventh and eighth for the 10-4 final.

The Braves starter Freddy Tarnok (4-4) will get the loss. Sergio Cubilete (4-5) will earn the win for West Virginia.
