Vero Beach Devil Rays News Release

The Vero Beach Dodgers came back from a 6-0 deficit to beat the Tampa Yankees 8-7 Thursday night at Legends Field. Major League pitcher Jaret Wright made an injury rehab start for the Yankees and threw six shutout innings. However, Anthony Raglani's 3-run home run in the 8th tied the score and Matt Kemp's two-out single in the 9th gave the Dodgers their sixth win in a row. Casey Hoorelbeke (7-1) earned the win with 2 1/3 scoreless relief innings. The series concludes Friday night at 7:00 PM.

Wright allowed just two hits with two hit batters. He struck out eight Dodgers and did not walk anyone. He retired the final 12 Vero Beach batters and left with a 6-0 lead. Justin Christian led the Yankees offensively, going 4-5 with three runs scored, three doubles and an RBI.

The Dodgers comeback began when Tampa went to the bullpen in the 7th. Cory Dunlap drew a leadoff walk and Cole Bruce singled to center. Raglani brought home Dunlap on a single to give the Dodgers their first run. Two outs later, and with two strikes, Mayke Cabrera knocked a base hit to right, scoring two runs and cutting the deficit to 6-3.

After the Yankees picked up another run in the top of the 8th, the Dodgers continued to charge back. Matt Kemp reached on an infield single and Dunlap doubled him home. Bruce singled to left to set up Raglani's game-tying homer, a line drive shot to right field. It was his 11th of the season and the 15th the Dodgers have hit in 7 games against Tampa.

The comeback came to fruition in the 9th. Jamie Hoffman reached on an error and advanced to second a controversial balk call. Ensuing arguments led the ejection of Yankees manager Joe Breeden and catcher Jon-Mark Sprowl.

Still, Hoffman was at third with two out when Kemp lined a single to center, scoring Hoffman and giving the Dodgers their 8-7 victory. Vero Beach is now 6-1 against the Yankees.
