Valour FC Inks Canadian Forward

WINNIPEG, MB. - Valour FC today announce that the club has signed Canadian forward William Akio.

Akio, 22, joins Valour FC from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where he spent the 2021 season, totalling seven goals and two assists in 10 games played.

"William has excelled at both the PDL and NCAA levels and we have followed his career with great interest," said Head Coach & GM Rob Gale. "We are delighted that he has chosen to sign his first professional contract in Winnipeg and join the squad for 2021."

The forward joined the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros in 2018, totalling 18 goals and 14 assists in three seasons with the club, putting him second all-time in points, third in goals, and tied for first in assists in the program's history.

In 2019, the forward also spent time with Calgary Foothills FC (USL2), totalling 11 goals in 12 games played.
