Valour FC News Release
WINNIPEG, MB. - Valour FC today announce that the club has signed Canadian forward Joe Hanson.
Hanson, 20, joins Valour FC from Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 (MLS Next Pro), where signed a two-year contract in 2022 after being selected by the Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy in 2019. Hanson was reported to be the first Yukoner to sign a professional soccer contract.
"Joe will bring additional options to our attack", said Head Coach & General Manager Phillip Dos Santos. "He's versatile and arrives having a good tactical understanding of what we want from him. I think he's a young player with a high margin to progress. Joe's minutes will be valuable and count towards the required U21 minutes."
In 2023, the forward made 20 appearances for Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2, with 9 starts, totalling 778 minutes played.
Hanson's Canadian roots have taken him from playing in Whitehorse, Yukon, where the forward previously played with Yukon Selects FC and in the Total Soccer Excellence Academy, to spending time with Vancouver Island Wave in the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League.
