
ValleyCats Handle Tigers in Rain Shortened Game

Troy, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats (16-8) defeated the Connecticut Tigers (11-13) by a score of 10-2 after a rain shortened 5 innings Monday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. DH A.J. Reed (1-2) was the one of the many key performers for Tri-City. Reed put the ValleyCats in front in the first inning with a two-run single. Reed later added an RBI off of a sacrifice fly.
Connecticut native RHP Troy Scribner (3-1) had a strong outing in his fifth start of the season for the ValleyCats as he picked up his third win. Scribner pitched five innings while allowing two runs on five hits and struck out a season high nine batters. Scribner struck out the side in the second and fourth inning.
The Tigers grabbed offensive production from DH Steven Fuentes (1-2). Fuentes hit a two-run double in the third inning that cut the ValleyCats lead to one run at 3-2. 3B Joey Pankake (2-2) had two singles and a run scored in the game. Pankake extended his hit streak to eight games.
The Tigers and Tri-City ValleyCats wrap up their two-game series tomorrow morning in Troy, NY. Tigers RHP Josh Heddinger (0-0, 0.00) is slated to face ValleyCats LHP Sebastian Kessay (1-0, 6.10). There will not be a Connecticut Tigers broadcast tomorrow.
The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League. The Tigers are in their 5th season at Dodd Stadium. Tickets are now on sale!
