Utah Blaze News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Arena Football League Office announced Utah Blaze WR/LB RYAN DENNARD (6-3, 227, Arizona State) as Ironman of the Week for Week 2. This marks the second straight week the former Sun Devil has earned an AFL weekly award.

Dennard, who is in second season with the Blaze (2-0), collected his second career Ironman of the Week award after posting a League-best and career-highs with 16 receptions for 181 yards and seven touchdowns. On defense, he registered four total tackles (two solo, four assists) as the Blaze defeated the Arizona Rattlers, 75-71, in Phoenix on Saturday night. Dennard, who started at jack linebacker and wide receiver, played in 120 of 148 total plays in the victory.

"We really needed Ryan to step up this week due to the injuries to (Siaha) Burley and (Aaron) Boone - and he did," said Blaze head coach/general manager DANNY WHITE. "He took advantage of the opportunity and showed the kind of talent he possesses. I am really excited for Ryan because he's worked hard to get where he is."

The Blaze improved to 2-0 for the first time in team history thanks to JOE GERMAINE's 23-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown pass to WR ORSHAWANTE BRYANT with 13 seconds remaining. The Blaze travel to the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, TN to play the Nashville Kats (0-2) this Sunday at 2 p.m. MT. The game can be seen on FSN Utah and heard on 1280 The Zone with KEVIN GRAHAM calling the action.

Ironman of the Week candidates included: Dallas WR WILL PETTIS and WR/DB WILLIS MARSHALL, Utah WR/LB JUSTIN SKAGGS, and New Orleans WR KENNY HENDERSON.
