August 22, 2008 - NBA G League (G League)
Utah Flash News Release

PROVO, Aug. 22, 2008 - The Utah Flash, the NBA Development League affiliate of the Utah Jazz and Boston Celtics, is conducting a free agent tryout on Sept. 27 at The Flash Factory in Lehi.

With league approval, at least one player from the open tryout can be selected for an opportunity to make the Flash training camp roster. Utah head coach Brad Jones can bring up to 17 players to camp.

Forward Brian Hamilton, the 2007-08 NBA Development League total steals (115) and steals per game (2.3) leader, was signed by the league following the 2007 Flash tryout and played in 49 games (31 starts) for Utah, averaging 10.8 points and 5.6 rebounds. Forward John Millsap also advanced out of the tryout to average 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 42 games for the Flash.

"The Flash and the NBA D-League are about providing opportunity," Jones said. "While NBADL players are arguably the best players in the world not on an NBA roster, there have been, and will continue to be, untapped talent that can only be found in a setting like this. Brian Hamilton and John Millsap are both excellent examples.

"We have a day of high-intensity, highly-structured workouts scheduled," Jones said. "Every player will leave knowing they got a great look and a full opportunity to showcase their skills."

Players should arrive at The Factory, 4425 North Thanksgiving Way (I-15 Exit 284), by noon on Sept. 27. Workouts begin at 12:30 p.m. Players will compete in skills and conditioning drills prior to dividing into teams for several game-type scrimmages.

Interested players should complete a registration form, as well as a player release and eligibility form. Both are available at utahflash.com or can picked up at the Flash front office at 5017 Edgewood in Provo. Players that register early should remit a cashier's check for $150 made payable to G Code Hoops. Day of camp registrants will pay $175 by either cash or cashier's check. Every player will be provided a workout jersey to keep.

Players needing overnight accommodations should contact Michael Rener at the Provo Marriott (801-370-3531) to receive a special Flash rate of $89.
