
Utah extends ABA record win streak to 20 with thriller over the Drillers

Tony Farmer grabbed a missed shot with 30 seconds remaining and scored on a put back to give Utah a win over the Calgary Drillers on the road. Utah had trailed most of the game and by as many as 13 points, gained a 55-54 lead in the third only to fall behind again by 9 in the final period. But Utah went on a 12-2 run in the final 4 minutes to take the lead and hold on in the final minute for the win.
Nate Driggers was superb in the first period with 19 first quarter points including four three pointers to give Calgary the early 26-22 lead after one period. Alex Austin ran off 8 straight points for Utah to get thme close, but Jermaine Mason and Damian Owens combined for 12 points in the second to give Calgary a 47-40 halftime lead.
Farmer tried to keep Utah in the game with 7 points in the third, even giving Utah a brief lead before Dejaun Wheat scored 6 straight points to give Calgary a 72-65 lead after three. Calgary led by 9 when Ike Austin kicked his brother Alex off the team bench during a timeout which was followed by Utah Snowbears run led by Tyrone Hayes. The teams were tied at 80, 82, 84 and 86 when Tony Farmer grabbed a rebound in the paint and scored to give Utah 88-86 lead. Calgary had two final possessions but lost composure when James Penny was ejected after being called for a foul on a missed shot. Utah couldn ¬â¢t take advantage, missing 7 or 8 free throws in the final minute, but still managed to come away with their 20th consecutive win of the season.
