Utah Snowbears News Release

Salt Lake City, UT –Ike Austin, Owner/Head Coach of the Utah SnowBears (American Basketball Association), has decided against having his basketball team return to the court for the remaining playoff games closing out the 2004-2005 Utah SnowBears season.

In a statement released through Derrick Pearson, Director of Media Communications for the Utah Snowbears stated the following:

"I have no choice but to cancel the rest of our 2004-05 SnowBears season, Mr. Austin said.” This is a sad, regrettable day that all of us wish could have been avoided." " However, I have decided that having the team play the remaining games under current ABA situations and circumstances would not be in the player’s best interest or my own." Mr. Austin went on to state: "I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Utah Snowbears fans and sponsors, who make what we do possible. The Utah SnowBears players and staff are a top-notch team that put together an incredible season of basketball. I'm proud to have been a part of the ABA, and I would like to thank everyone involved for providing Utah with such a wonderful season.”

Mr. Austin led the SnowBears to 27 wins and 1 lost, defeating Tijuana before dethroning two-time defending ABA Champion Long Beach in the quarterfinals.Utah wishes the remaining teams participating the best of luck for the remainder of the season.

Derrick Pearson will address the press via the Internet Monday March 14 at 4 PM on the Snowbears web site at _www.utahsnowbears.net_ (http://www.utahsnowbears.net/) . If you have questions, please email the questions before PM MST.
