Utah Blaze News Release

NEW YORK - Defensive specialist KELVIN HUNTER (5-10, 185, Arizona) became the first player in Utah Blaze history when the team made him the first selection in the Expansion Draft. The Blaze, who begin play this upcoming season, selected 20 players from the 95 made available from the rosters of the league's 17 remaining teams.

Hunter, who only played in 10 games for Austin, led the Wranglers in interceptions (4) and pass breakups (10) during the 2005 season. The former Wildcat will be entering his sixth season in the AFL and his second stint on an expansion team roster (Chicago Rush, 2001).

Team rosters effected the most by the draft include the New York Dragons, who lost four players, while the Chicago Rush, Georgia Force, Los Angeles Avengers, San Jose SaberCats and the defending champion Colorado Crush, each lost two players. The Blaze selected former Dragons FB/LBs CHIN ACHEBE (6-1, 255, Iowa State), KEVIN CLEMENS (6-0, 275, Grand Valley State), DS KELLY HERNDON (5-10, 180, Toledo) and OL/DL TIM MC GILL (6-2, 324, Illinois).

Other notables selected by the Blaze include: 2004 Rookie of the Year QB ADRIAN MC PHERSON (6-3, 298, Florida State) and 2003 All-Arena OS ANTONIO CHATMAN (5-9, 180, Cincinnati).
