Chicago Rush News Release

September 26, 2005 - The Utah Blaze used Monday's Arena Football League expansion draft to select two players from the Chicago Rush roster - lineman Scott Pospisil (fourth pick) and offensive specialist Antonio Chatman (15th pick).

"You are never quite sure how many players you are going to lose in an expansion draft," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "Losing Chatman doesn't hurt us as much as losing Pospisil, since we have played without him for two years. Pops, however, had a good rookie year for us and we were looking forward to watching him get more AFL experience.

"We are very pleased to have been able to hold onto Gladston Taylor and Jeroid Johnson, two players who played very well for us down the stretch last year."

Pospisil (6-2, 275, Iowa) was selected from the team's active roster after playing in 10 games as a rookie in 2005 and recording 7.5 tackles and one sack.

Chatman (5-9, 185, Cincinnati) had been on Chicago's exempt roster after spending the past three seasons with the Green Bay Packers. Prior to signing with Green Bay, Chatman played two seasons for the Rush (2002-2003), setting franchise, season and career records for receptions, receiving yards, touchdowns and all-purpose yards. In 2003 Chatman was named Second-Team All-Arena after setting an AFL record with 3,678 all-purpose yards and returning seven kickoffs for touchdowns.

With the loss of Pospisil and Chatman, the Rush currently has 20 players on its active roster and three on its exempt roster. AFL teams may begin signing free agents on October 1, with rosters expanding to a maximum of 37 players for training camp in January.
