USL Championship Unveils Full 2022 Schedule

The USL Championship announced its full 2022 schedule today, revealing Phoenix Rising FC's 34-game slate of matches running March 12 to October 15.

Rising will play home-and-away versus each of its 12 Western Conference opponents (24 matches). Home dates against those clubs include, Monterey Bay (March 12), San Diego Loyal (March 26), LA Galaxy II (April 9), New Mexico United (April 16), San Antonio FC (May 7), El Paso Locomotive FC (June 11), Orange County SC (July 2), Sacramento Republic FC (July 23), Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (July 30), Las Vegas Lights FC (Aug. 6), RGV FC Toros (Aug. 31) and Oakland Roots SC (Sept. 10).

The remaining home matches will be against Eastern Conference opponents: Miami FC (May 1), Tampa Bay Rowdies (May 15), Birmingham Legion FC (June 4), New York Red Bulls II (Oct. 1) and Atlanta United 2 (Oct. 15).

Rising will travel to play four Eastern Conference opponents: Hartford Athletic (May 28), Loudoun United FC (June 18), Memphis 901 FC (July 9) and Louisville City FC (July 20).

Due to there being one additional team in the Eastern Conference (13), Rising will fill out its schedule with a second trip to Las Vegas Lights FC on June 24.

Every match of the season will be available live on ESPN+ except for those that air on ESPN or ESPN2. The 2022 USL on ESPN broadcast schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Championship regular season will span 32 weeks, starting with the previously announced season kick off on Saturday, March 12, and a full slate of 13 games in the opening weekend. The regular season will conclude on Saturday, Oct. 15 with another full slate of 13 games that will decide postseason places and seeding for the top seven teams in the Eastern and Western Conferences.

2022 USL Championship Playoffs

At the conclusion of the regular season on Oct. 15, the top seven teams in each conference will qualify for the 2022 USL Championship Playoffs. The first overall seed in each conference will receive a bye to the Conference Semifinals of the playoffs. The bracket will be reseeded following the Conference Quarterfinals to ensure the first overall seed in each conference plays against the lowest-seeded remaining opponent.

The USL Championship Playoffs will remain a single-elimination format, culminating in the 2022 USL Championship Final on a to-be-determined date between Nov. 10 and Nov. 14, 2022.
