U.S. National Team News Release

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- USA Hockey's National Team Development Program today announced the 49-player roster for the 2007 National Team Evaluation Camp that will take place March 17-20 at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

"We're extremely excited to see the depth of the 1991 (birth-year) class," said Ryan Rezmierski, director of player personnel for the NTDP. "We're looking forward to seeing these athletes compete in a difficult environment for the opportunity to play for the country's national team."

The purpose of the National Team Evaluation Camp is to provide an environment to evaluate potential NTDP players and also foster a stronger relationship between the NTDP and the selected participants. Outside of the on-ice competition, the players will go through a series of off-ice tests, have the opportunity to tour the NTDP facility and meet with program staff members throughout the course of their time in Ann Arbor.

This year's camp will feature participants who hail from 17 different states. Michigan and Minnesota boast the most prospects with eight players apiece. States that will be sending multiple members to this year's camp include Illinois (5), Massachusetts (5), New York (5), Florida (3), Texas (3), California (2), and Pennsylvania (2).

ABOUT THE NTDP: Founded in 1996, USA Hockey's National Team Development Program was created to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice. Located in Ann Arbor, Mich., the 46 players in the program are split into two squads - the U.S. National Under-18 and Under-17 Teams. In the eight years NTDP players have been eligible for the draft, 124 players have been selected, including the number one overall selection in both 2000 (Rick DiPietro) and 2006 (Erik Johnson).
