The Can-Am league has named Sussex Skyhawks first baseman John Urick as Batter of the Week.
Through five games last week, Urick batted .429 with one home run and six RBI. In 21 at bats, he had nine hits and three runs.
A resident of Overland Park, KS, Urick joins the Skyhawks this season after playing for the Clearwater Threshers, the Class A Advanced Florida State League team. He also spent part of the 2008 season playing for the Reading Phillies, an AA affiliate of the Phillies. He was selected by the New York Yankees in the 2003 amateur-entry draft.
The 27 year old veteran is currently batting .300 with 22 RBI, 4 home runs, and a slugging percentage of .490 in 26 games.
