
Allen, Urick Can-Am League Players Of The Week

DURHAM, NC - PA-Sportsticker, the Can-Am League's official statistician, has selected Sussex Skyhawks INF John Urick and Quebec Capitales RHP Chris Allen as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.
Urick batted .385 with one home run and seven RBI in six games this past week. He collected 10 hits, scored three runs and had a slugging percentage of .654. In the 9-0 victory over the American Defenders of New Hampshire Sunday, Urick went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and a RBI. On the season, the Blue Springs, MO native is hitting .300 with four home runs and 22 runs batted in.
The 27-year-old was a 22nd round selection of the New York Yankees in 2003. He played three seasons in the Yankees farm system before moving over to the Philadelphia Phillies organization in 2006.
Allen pitched a complete game shutout in the 5-0 win over the American Defenders of New Hampshire this past Wednesday. He allowed four hits while fanning five batters. The 24-year-old is 2-3 on the year with a 3.02 ERA in six starts. Allen is sixth in the Can-Am in earned run average.
The DuBoistown, PA resident was 6-2 with a 3.39 ERA in 11 starts for Southern Illinois of the Frontier League last season.
