NOLA Gold News Release
Thank you for your continued support throughout this season. There have been high points and low points during this 2023 campaign; it's safe to say that our match against New England this past weekend left something to be desired on the pitch.
With a final score of 50-3, the Free Jacks handled business. Even for a Gold team that has suffered a slew of injuries and a stretch of testing matchups, this fixture was a difficult loss for the team and fans alike.
Across the League: the State of Affairs
With that being said, the show goes on. The Gold, despite the results of recent matches, are still in playoff contention. It will require some massive results over the next four weeks for a NOLA playoff berth, but nothing is impossible. Within the Eastern Conference, fifth place, our current position, and third place, the destination, are only separated by six points. With three more matches to play, that disparity can be remedied.
During our bye week, Golden eyes should fixate on other Eastern teams this weekend - DC, New York, and Atlanta all have difficult matchups with Western teams. Losses from these clubs would boost NOLA's chance at the playoffs in a major way.
Throwback Day: June 3rd
We will return to action at home on June 3rd against Old Glory DC - a team we beat earlier in the season and a team that is fiercely competing for a remaining playoff spot. The theme for the match will be "Throwback Day," so break out those bell bottoms and letterman jackets. Fans are encouraged to wear throwback clothing, whatever that means for you - however, let it be known that there will be an 80's and 90's costume contest on the pitch.
Additionally, Gold fans will have a chance to bid on a collection of retro-styled jerseys that the team will wear during the match. The highest bidders will be allowed to take the jerseys home right after the game. Gold-and-white-striped with a classic collar, these limited-edition shirts offer a simultaneous taste of the past and look towards the future.
At halftime, the Pussyfooters will warm the Gold Mine with a performance that will get your feet moving. After the match, fans will be welcomed onto the pitch for a party with the team; there will be an autograph station, photo booth, and food and drink to commemorate a memorable season. The onus will be on fan appreciation, so prepare to be appreciated, fans!
