Minnesota United FC News Release
SAINT PAUL, Minn. (Wednesday, May 31) -- Minnesota United is excited to announce a collaboration with Still Kickin, a local nonprofit that supports people persevering through awful things that life has thrown at them. The organizations have come together to create co-branded apparel and an unforgettable night of fitness and soccer, all for a great cause!
"We're excited to support Still Kickin at the game on the 11th," said United defender Brent Kallman. "We love their spirit and the fact that they raise money for people in need, in part through group fitness here in Minnesota and across the country. It's a great partnership for United and we're pumped about it."
Still Kickin was founded in 2015, by Nora McInerny Purmort, inspired by the vintage tee shirt her husband was wearing when he had a seizure in 2011. Over the next three years of treatment for the brain cancer that caused his initial seizure, that Still Kickin t-shirt became a motto for him, and a rallying cry that brought together his family, friends, and even strangers. Since then, thousands of people have united to help a stranger through the hardest days of their life, by purchasing Still Kickin apparel and participating in charity workouts held across the country.
On June 11, Still Kickin and Minnesota United will be selling exclusive apparel and ticket combinations as a fundraiser for the nonprofit. Funds raised will support Still Kickin Heroes, providing a safety net to these families who embody the Still Kickin way of life.
"I know from my family's experience that all of us experience hardship in our lives, and that people want to help, they just don't think there's anything they can do," says Still Kickin Founder Nora McInerny Purmort. "Still Kickin is about small acts of kindness -- a tee shirt, a workout -- that add up to life-changing support for a person who needs it. They're two words that anyone can see themselves in, and a way to show the world that you can handle whatever it throws your way."
You can purchase apparel/ticket combinations and get more information about a special popup workout prior to the game, on the Minnesota United website.
