Undefeated Sioux Falls Heads to Green Bay

May 17, 2012- Who: Sioux Falls (9-0) at Green Bay Blizzard (8-2)

Where: Resch Center - Green Bay, WI

Blizzard Update: For the first time this season, the Blizzard play in front of the home crowd for back-to-back weeks. Last week, Green Bay scored a season high 76 points in a win over Lehigh Valley. The game began as a defensive struggle and Green Bay led 5-3 after the first quarter. But things opened up as the Blizzard scored 34 points in the second quarter and finished strong with 23 points in the fourth quarter for a 76-61 victory. Bryan Pray (3) and Desmond Tardy (2) combined to snare five touchdown passes, while Andrew Verboncouer tallied two on the ground to lead the offensive. The defense notched a score of their own as Kenneth Viser returned an interception the length of the field for a score in the third quarter. Return ace B.J. Hill also put points on the board when Lehigh Valley finally gave him a chance to return a kick late in the fourth.

Storm Update: Sioux Falls is making another run at a championship. The defending IFL champions have won five titles in 11 seasons of play. Last week, Sioux Falls faced Tri-Cities in a rematch of last year's United Bowl. The game was played in Sioux Falls and featured two undefeated teams. The Storm made a statement by dominating the Fever 55-16. The Storm defense limited the IFL's second ranked offense to 137 yards. The defense spent a lot of time in the Fever backfield which led to two interceptions and four sacks. Storm quarterback Chris Dixon passed for three touchdowns and ran for two.

Series: Sioux Falls leads the series 3-0. This will be the first time the teams have met in Green Bay at the Resch Center. The most recent match-up was the 2012 season opener on February 26th. The Storm topped the Blizzard 73-43. The two teams also met in the 2011 United Conference Championship game. The Storm beat the Blizzard 52-12.

Stats: Offense: The game features the #1 and #2 offenses in the IFL. Green Bay ranks second with 54.6 points per game, Sioux Falls ranks first with 67 points per game. The Blizzard defense will need to find a way to slow down Storm quarterback Chris Dixon. He leads the top passing offense in the league. Dixon has the top QB rating (135.8) and has 44 touchdowns with only five interceptions. He's also dangerous on the ground with 485 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. The Blizzard counter with the IFL's top rusher in La'Ron Council. He has 653 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on the year. Defense: The Blizzard is fourth in the IFL at 41.9 points per game and the Storm is ranked third with 40 points per game. Green Bay's defense leads the IFL with 24 interceptions. B.J. Hill leads the Blizzard defensive backs with nine interceptions. Defensive back Aaron Moore leads the Blizzard with 64 total tackles and linebacker Dejuan Fulghum has 64 tackles for the Storm.
