Wichita Wild News Release
WICHITA, KS - The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) will host the Nebraska Danger this Saturday, May 19th. This will be the second meeting between the Wild and the Danger this season. The Wild will be looking for revenge after a 42-27 loss to the Danger earlier this season. Wichita, currently 4-5, is one of the hottest teams in the IFL having won four of their last five games; Nebraska enters the game at 4-6. Kickoff for Saturday night's game is scheduled at 7:05pm (CST) at Hartman Arena.
This matchup is crucial to both teams as the Wild could increase its lead over the Danger, or the Danger could leapfrog the Wild into fourth place in the IFL Intense Conference standings. The Week 12 IFL Coaches' Poll has Wichita ranked seventh while the Danger are rank tenth. The game will no doubly be an exciting matchup between two top ten IFL teams.
The Danger are coming off a 68-54 loss to the Omaha Beef last Saturday night. Lead by Wide Receiver Kayne Farquharson, the former University of Miami player has touted 57 catches, 668 yards and 21 touchdowns for the Danger this season. Farquharson's touchdown total is currently third best in the IFL, three behind the league leading receiver Andre Piper-Jordan. Nebraska is 1-4 on the road this season, and will be looking for a win over the Wild to keep their chance at a playoff berth alive.
Wichita is coming off a bye week after two solid home performances, beating the Allen Wranglers 55-54 on April 28th and the Omaha Beef 77-41 on May 5th. Wichita will enter Saturday night's game looking to continue their hot streak and extend their winning ways to 3 games. With just 5 games remaining in the 2012 IFL season, Wichita will also be fighting for a win against conference rivals, Nebraska Danger, to keep their playoff hopes alive. Led throughout the season by Marques Jackson and Phil Staback, the pair of Quarterbacks will likely both see playing time Saturday night. Matt Moss, leading the league in sack with 13.5, is expected to have another big night, as is Wild Running Back Tywon Hubbard
Keep An Eye On: Tywon Hubbard
Through 8 games, Hubbard is averaging 48.8 yards per game rushing for a total of 390 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. He currently sits in second place among the IFL All Purpose Yards list with 1,177, two games back from leader Mike Tatum. In the previous three weeks, Hubbard was named IFL Special Teams Player of the Week followed by IFL Offensive Player of the Week. Hubbard has 10 touchdowns in the past two games and the Wild will surely rely on their rookie sensation to find the end zone Saturday night.
