UHL announces new divisional alignment, rules

Richmond, VA – The Richmond RiverDogs of the United Hockey League will play in a re-aligned Eastern Division in 2004-'05. The UHL will be a 14 club, three division league for the upcoming season. The league also issued several rules changes at the recent Board of Governors Meeting.

On-ice rules changes include automatic no-touch icing, and for pre-season games, removal of the red line, eliminating two line pass calls. The league increased the veteran (280 or more pro games) roster limit to seven per club. All three rounds of the Colonial Cup playoffs will now be best-of-seven series. Due to the 80 game regular season schedule, the season salary cap is now $260,000.

The ‘Dogs will compete in the Eastern Division with Adirondack, Elmira, and Danbury. The top two clubs in each division qualify for the playoffs, along with the clubs with the next two best regular season records.

The Richmond 2K Challenge continues. The ‘Dogs are looking for 2,000 season seats sold for the 2004/05 season. Season seats are on sale now for $320.00 in Center and End locations through August 1. For more information please call 225-PUCK (7825).

The ‘Dogs now have six players under contract for 2004-'05: Brian Goudie, Paul Johnson, J.F. Picard, J.J. Wrobel, Luch Nasato, and Jami Yoder.
