ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The U.S. National Under-17 Team dropped the St. Louis Bandits, 6-2, tonight in North American Hockey League action at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

Jeremy Morin (Auburn, N.Y.) put Team USA on the board first, 4:53 into the game, when he beat Bandits netminder Cal Heeter off a rebound. The lead was stretched to 2-0 on defenseman Richie Crowley's (Canton, Mas.) first goal as he beat Heeter on a one-timer off a pass from defenseman Beau Schmitz (Howell, Mich.).

St. Louis cut the deficit to 2-1 on a goal by Josh Rabbani at the 6:11 mark of the middle stanza. However, Team USA regained its two-goal advantage, 3-1, at the 12:08 mark of the second period on a Kenny Ryan (Franklin Village, Mich.) tally. Ryan took a goal-crease pass from Morin and deposited it into the open net for Team USA's third goal.

In the final frame, Chris Brown (Flower Mound, Texas) and Ryan Bourque (Boxford, Mass.) added goals at the 1:21 mark and the 6:17 mark, respectively as Team USA built a 5-1 advantage. St. Louis scored its second goal of the game at the 10:31 mark on a goal by Ben Warda. However, just 2:30 later, Team USA's A.J. Treais (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) buried the puck top shelf to increase the lead to 6-2.

"Tonight was a good start to a long season," said U.S. Head Coach Ron Rolston. "It was a good performance against a tough St. Louis club that challenged us throughout the contest."

The U.S. National Under-17 Team will face the Bandits again tomorrow night at 7 p.m. EDT at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.
