
U.S. Nat'l U17 Team Dropped by Mahoning Valley, 3-0

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The U.S. National Under-17 Team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Mahoning Valley Phantoms here tonight at the Chevy Centre.
Mahoning Valley took a 1-0 lead midway through the opening stanza as Doug Clifford put the puck past netminder Jack Campbell (Port Huron, Mich.). Cole Schneider doubled the Phantoms' lead with a goal at 14:18.
After a scoreless second period, Nick Shkreli gave Mahoning Valley a three goal cushion at 8:49 of the final frame. Despite a 17-shot onslaught from Team USA in the third, goaltender Jordan Tibbett did not allow a goal in helping the Phantoms earn the 3-0 win.
Campbell turned aside 23 shots on the night.
The U.S. National Under-17 Team returns home tomorrow to take on Mahoning Valley once again at 3 p.m. ET at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.
