YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Cole Bardeau (Fairport, N.Y.), Travis Boyd (Hopkins, Minn.), Dan Carlson (Corcoran, Minn.) and Austin Wuthrich (Anchorage, Alaska) each notched a goal and an assist as the U.S. National Under-17 Team rolled past the Youngstown Phantoms, 6-2, here tonight.

Just 3:39 into the game and with Team USA killing a penalty, Bardreau slammed home a rebound to give the U.S. a 1-0 advantage with a shorthanded tally. The U.S. doubled its lead on the power play when Boyd fed Alexx Privitera (Old Tappan, N.J.), who one-timed a blast from between the faceoff circles past goaltender Jordan Tibbett at 10:18. The Phantoms cut the deficit in half just 1:08 later, however, when Jefferson Dahl intercepted the puck in the U.S. zone and put it past netminder John Gibson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) for a shorthanded marker.

Reid Boucher (Grand Ledge, Mich.) regained the two-goal advantage for the U.S. when he backhanded the puck under Tibbett's left arm from the left side of the crease at 5:23 of the second period. The Phantoms answered back when Dylan Margonari tipped Andrej Sustr's left-point shot through Gibson's legs for a power-play goal with just 1:57 remaining in the middle frame.

In the third frame, Team USA took a 4-2 lead when Carlson intercepted a Youngstown pass, deked to his backhand and lifted the puck over Tibbett at the 3:56 mark. Boyd tallied just 1:53 later when he tapped Carlson's feed past Tibbett after charging into the middle slot. Wuthrich put the exclamation point on the game after he one-timed a nifty backhanded feather pass from Bardreau into the upper-right corner of the cage with 4:47 remaining in the game to account for the 6-2 final.

Gibson made 27 saves to earn the win.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team will hit the road for its final series of the 2009-10 season, beginning with a Friday-night tilt against the Omaha Lancers at 7:05 p.m. CST. The U.S. then closes out the campaign against East Division foe Waterloo Black Hawks Saturday at 7:05 p.m. CST.
