
U.S. National Under-18 Team Blanks Switzerland, 2-0

HUTTWIL, Switzerland - Danny Kristo (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and Colin Moore (Medfield, Mass.) each scored goals and Joe Cannata (Wakefield, Mass.) turned away each of the 15 shots he faced to stake the U.S. National Under-18 Team to a 2-0 win in exhibition play Friday afternoon. The game was a tuneup for both teams as they prepare for the 2007 Four Nations Tournament that begins here on Friday (Nov. 9).
"It was a good, thorough effort from our goalie on out," said John Hynes, head coach of the U.S. National Under-18 Team. "We played very well as a team, and it will be important that we continue to do that when the tournament starts on Friday.
Kristo netted his team-leading sixth goal of the year, unassisted, at the 19:37 mark of the first period. Team USA added an insurance goal when Moore recorded his second goal of the season at 10:15 of the second period off assists from David Wohlberg (South Lyon, Mich.) and Ryan Hegarty (Arlington, Mass.).
Cannata improved to 2-3-1 on the year for Team USA.
The U.S. National Under-18 Team opens the Four Nations Tournament Friday (Nov. 9) when it takes on Sweden at 4 p.m. local time and 11 a.m. ET.
NOTES: Kristo's game-winner was his first of the season ... Moore picked up his second goal of the year ... Wohlberg and Hegarty each recorded their fourth assists of the 2007-08 campaign ... Team USA was 0-for-7 on the power play, while Switzerland was 0-for-5 ... Team USA finished with a 35-15 shot advantage.
