FARGO, N.D. - Derek Forbort (Duluth, Minn.), Jarred Tinordi (Millersville, Md.) and Nick Shore (Denver, Colo.) each tallied first-period goals, but it was not enough for the U.S. National Under-18 Team as it dropped a 4-3 decision to the Fargo Force here tonight at the Urban Plains Center.

The Force got on the board first when Chase Grant notched a power-play goal at 7:54. Forbort answered back for Team USA just 1:09 later with a power-play goal of his own. Tinordi made it 2-1 after converting on a Jon Merrill (Brighton, Mich.) feed 2:01 later. Shore continued the U.S. goal outburst at 12:53 to give Team USA a two-goal cushion. With 4:53 to play in the period Cole Gunner bested netminder Andy Iles (Ithaca, N.Y.) to cut Fargo's deficit in half.

Nate Condon scored just 54 seconds into the middle frame to knot the score, 3-3. Iles made 17 of his 31 stops in the second period.

With 5:11 to play in regulation, Matt Leitner scored to give the Force the 4-3 advantage. The U.S. was unable to solve netminder Ryan Massa in the closing minutes, allowing Fargo to escape with the win.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team will take on the Sioux Falls Stampede Friday at 7:05 p.m. CST in Sioux Falls S.D. It will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.
