Indiana Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN- The Indiana Ice will host the U.S. National Team Development Program (NTDP) in a preseason game on Saturday (9/23) at 7 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum.

Comprised of the most talented hockey prospects across the nation, the U.S. National Team is entering their tenth season of play and compete against NCAA Division I opponents, junior hockey programs, and also participate in three international tournaments throughout their season.

"It will be a gauge to see where we stand," said Ice Head Coach Jack Bowkus. "They're a well disciplined team with some promising young players. Their program has had a lot of success."

Since 1998, 124 NTDP players have been selected in the NHL Entry Draft including 24 first round selections. Former players Erik Johnson (2006) and Rick DiPietro (2000) were first overall picks by St. Louis and the New York Islanders respectively. In addition, the 2006 U.S. Olympic Team included three former NDTP players in goaltender Rick DiPietro (NY Islanders) and defensemen Jordan Leopold (Colorado) and John-Michael Liles (Colorado).
