Trenton Thunder News Release

The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced a pair of moves prior to Tuesday's game against the Portland Sea Dogs. Outfielder Tyler Austin and RHP Taylor Garrison have been transferred to Trenton's roster from Short Season-A Staten Island.

Austin, 22, batted .257 with 6 HR and 41 RBIs in 83 games for the Thunder in 2013. In his four-year minor league career, he is a .307 hitter with 29 HR and 156 RBI in 244 games. Austin has played his entire career with the Yankees, and has climbed the ladder from Staten Island to Charleston to Tampa and now back with Trenton. The outfielder was originally drafted by the Yankees in the 13th round of the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Heritage High School in Conyers, Ga.

Garrison, 23, was a 27th round pick in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Fresno State and has not yet appeared in a game in 2014. Last season between Charleston (8 games), Tampa (30 games) and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (1 game) Garrison was 5-3 with a 1.73 earned run average and 51 strikeouts in 57.1 innings pitched.

To make room for both players on Trenton's active 25-man roster, RHP Joel De La Cruz and C Tyson Blaser were transferred to Short Season-A Staten Island.
