Tycoon Tidbits

December 17, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Texas Tycoons News Release

The Texas Tycoons defeated the UBL's Texas Wranglers 97-86, in a well fought battle Saturday night in Desoto, Texas. The leading scorer for the Tycoons was Tyrone Rayson with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Another notable Tycoon was Brandon Lee. The 2006 All-ABA selection chipped in 15 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The 7-1 Tycoons will play two games on the road versus the West Texas Whirlwinds before returning to Desoto for a rematch versus this strong Wrangler squad on Saturday December 29.

Clarification of Schedule and Standings

A note from the GM:

Regardless of peripheral issues, the Texas Tycoons owe it to our players and fans to play a complete thirty-six game schedule. We will do our part to maintain the integrity of the ABA schedule. However, we will fill open dates with competitive teams from various basketball communities and league affiliations.

Steel sharpens steel. The teams in the ABA's North East region will be ready for the playoffs, as the level of play in that area is fierce! In fact, we welcome and long for, that type of competition. To no avail, I have made several attempts to schedule exhibition games against the local PBL franchise as they prepare for their season. Fortunately, Coach Denson (Wranglers) of the UBL accepted the challenge.

My perspective may differ from other ABA members. Improving the Tycoons brand and developing players are my top priorities. It is not the ABA's obligation to ensure that we are profitable or send players (thirteen and counting in two seasons) on to more lucrative contracts in the D-league or overseas. It is our responsibility. We are far from perfect and have quite a bit of work to do. But understand, I am proud of our accomplishments thus far. You can also expect a huge announcement regarding our future plans.

As always, Thank you for supporting the Texas Tycoons.

Mike Senters-GM

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
