Connecticut Whale News Release
HARTFORD, September 15, 2011: Whalers Sports & Entertainment (WSE) president and COO Howard Baldwin, Jr. announced today that long-time Connecticut sales mavens Dean Zappalorti and Jenna Miller-Wassell have joined the Connecticut Whale sponsorship sales force.
Zappalorti and Miller-Wassell have nearly 30 years of combined sales experience in the Hartford market. Both also are seasoned veterans of pro hockey in Hartford, having represented the Hartford Wolf Pack for Madison Square Garden-Connecticut, Zappalorti for nine years and Miller-Wassell for ten.
Zappalorti, a veteran of 14 years of sponsorship sales experience in Connecticut, owns his own marketing company, GC2 Marketing Concepts, which he started after a stint with Live Nation as Director of Sponsorship Sales. That role involved selling sponsorships and hospitality for Live Nation's five live music venues in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Prior to that, Zappalorti spent two years as Director of Sponsorship Sales for Mohegan Sun, handling sponsorships and hospitality for the Mohegan Sun casino, Mohegan Sun Arena and the WNBA's Connecticut Sun. In addition to selling sponsorships for the Wolf Pack, Zappalorti's nine years with MSG Connecticut included representing the then-Hartford Civic Center and Rentschler Field in the areas of sponsorships and hospitality.
Miller-Wassell has been working in sales in the Hartford marketplace for 15 years, and comes to WSE and the Whale from Mohegan Sun, where she was Vice-President of Sponsorships and Strategic Relations for five years, generating new business partners and sponsors for both the Mohegan Sun casino and the Connecticut Sun. That was after a ten-year run as Director of Sponsorship Sales for MSG Connecticut, working with Zappalorti in sponsorship and hospitality sales for the Wolf Pack, Hartford Civic Center and Rentschler Field. Prior to that, Miller-Wassell was General Sales Manager for Radio 104 WMRQ-FM in Hartford.
