Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - Two-time National Lacrosse League MVP John Grant Jr. will finish his career in Colorado. The nine-time All-Star and nine-time All-Pro signed a four-year deal with the Mammoth on Wednesday. It will be the final contract of his professional career.
"For years, I wanted to play in Colorado," said Grant. "The Mammoth organization and its tremendous fans have embraced me since my arrival prior to the 2011 season. There's no better place to call home than Pepsi Center!"
In Grant's three years in a Mammoth uniform, he's scored a league-best 129 goals. His 290 points are also tops in the NLL during the span.
"Some thought John was past his prime when we traded for him in October, 2010," said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. "It's fair to say that he's proven all of the naysayers wrong."
The Peterborough, Ontario native and his family permanently relocated to Denver last month. Now, he's solidified his future.
Grant's 116 points in 2012 are an NLL single-season record. This past year, the left-handed forward passed lacrosse legend Gary Gait for third on the league's all-time scoring list.
Despite all of the accolades throughout his career, the 38-year-old still has just one goal in mind.
"I won an NLL title with the (Rochester) Knighthawks in 2007. Now, it's time to win the Champion's Cup with the Mammoth!"
