Knighthawks 'Giving Back' to Local Community

October 23, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Rochester Knighthawks News Release

The Rochester Knighthawks want to help your charitable organization raise money. Through the Second Annual Knighthawks Give Back fundraising competition, the team will allow charitable organizations to raise money through the sale of tickets to their game on Saturday, April 5th versus the Minnesota Swarm. The group who generates the most revenue through ticket sales will receive a matching donation from the Knighthawks Charitable Foundation, Inc.

"The Knighthawks are committed to helping local charities raise money and awareness for their causes, while enjoying a fun night out watching the back-to-back NLL Champions," said Knighthawks President Lewis Staats.

Local charities can sell Knighthawks tickets for just $10 each (regularly priced at $23) with $5 from each sale going back to the organization.

Last year, the winner of the competition was the Boys & Girls Club of Rochester, who received a major assist from its corporate partners at Sutherland Global Services. Sutherland and its employees purchased tickets for the Boys & Girls Club to the Knighthawks' March 30th game. The Knighthawks Charitable Foundation, Inc. matched the $2,005 raised for the Boys & Girls Club. Sutherland also agreed to match the amount, bringing the total to $6,015. Through the generosity of Sutherland Global Services, kids from the Boys & Girls Club of Rochester were introduced to indoor professional lacrosse and the Knighthawks.

"We have a few kids who play lacrosse, but most have never seen a game," said Boys & Girls Club of Rochester Executive Director Dwayne Mahoney. "They loved the atmosphere, the music and the pace of the game. We are excited to go back."

Other charities that participated in the fundraiser included the Hillside Family of Agencies, Muddy's Buddies, the Pancreatic Cancer Association of Western New York and Golisano Children's Hospital.

On Saturday, April 5th, all local nonprofit organizations are able to take part in this fundraising opportunity. Consignment tickets will also be available to be given directly to organizations. There will also be an online order form, allowing orders to be placed via the web to create a promotional email campaign.

The back-to-back World Champion Rochester Knighthawks will kick off their historic 20th season on Saturday, December 28th. Rochester will host the Minnesota Swarm at 7:30 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. Season tickets are currently on sale by calling (585) 454-4295 (HAWK) or by going online to www.knighthawks.com.
